Experiencia en trasplante pulmonar pediátrico en Chile

Lung transplantation (TP) is a treatment option in children with terminal lung diseases. Objective: To evaluate the results and survival of pediatrics transplant patients. Methods: Retrospective analysis clinical records patients < 15 years from Clinica Las Condes, Santiago, Chile. Demographic data, type transplant, baseline post function, early late complications rate were analyzed. Results: Nine years-old transplanted. The average age at was 12.7 years. main indication cystic fibrosis (7 patients). BMI 17.6 all home oxygen therapy. 77% used extracorporeal intraoperative support. Average FEV1 25.2% progressive improvement first year. hemorrhage primary graft dysfunction, while infections chronic dysfunction. Four have died estimated 2 85%. They achieved school reinsertion three managed to complete university studies. Conclusion: an alternative for advanced diseases improving their quality life.
